The exam will be divided in three parts. Students should get 18 in each part to pass the exam.

1) GROUPS' PSYCHOLOGY
Wrriten exam (30 items, multiple choice) and research work. Items will check students' understanding of the overall programme: knowledge and understanding (25%), ability to apply knowledge and understanding (25%), logic (25%), learning (25%) in Leadership and groups' dynamics.

2) SPORT PSYCHOLOGY

Assessment:

LEARNING OUTCOMES

1) To provide students with grounding in the fundamentals of the psychology of groups and leadership, to present the most relevant theoretical approaches and the potential for the athletic team.

2) To introduce concepts of sport psychology and to know application on the field with athlets, parents and sport managers.

SUMMARY
The athletic teams: psychological theories and practical applications, content, foundations, development and performance. Leadership models and leadership styles, leadership and emotional intelligence; the coach-athlete relationship. Transformational and transactional leadership; social network analysis and decision making.

PROGRAMME
This course will provide students with grounding in the fundamentals of the psychology of groups and leadership, the most relevant theoretical approaches and the potential for the athletic team (development, and creating alignment and commitment). As a result of the attendance of this course, students will be able to recognize the psychological foundations of the athletic team and to describe the development of a team through different models. She/he will also be able to provide an operational definition of leadership and to apply leadership models to her/his own professional life. More in details the learning goals will be:
- To understand the basic concepts in psychology of teams and the foundations (morphological, motivational, organizational and ideological variables) as well as their potential for practice.
- To understand and define operationally the developmental stages of the athletic team, to describe their role for the overall performance and understand the developmental process from a group to a team.
- To recognize different roles in a team, also using basic social network analysis models.
- To recognize, compare and contrast theories of leadership and leadership development (e.g., leadership styles, emotional and task leadership, situational leadership; transactional and
transformational leadership).
- To think critically, such that the student will be able to apply critical thinking skills to psychological data and theory in the future profession, also capitalizing on decision making frameworks.
