In order to participate in Training 3, the student must have already completed Training 2.

The tutor will report , on the dedicated form, which aims have been achieved by the student.

Training 3 is a mandatory training program for the students the 5th year of their (17 CFU).
Training 3 is performed in different medicine (i.e. Cardiology, Gastroenterology, etc), surgery (Thoracic surgery, Urology, etc) and clinical pathology units.
The students have to :
• Improve their skills in making correct diagnostic hypotheses and planning laboratory and instrumental tests in order to make the right diagnosis.
• Establish the correct therapy, including lifestyle and diet changes, drugs, instrumental interventions, surgery, taking also into account treatments’ side effects and interactions.

During Training 3, under the supervision of the tutor, the student will be required to:
• Outline diagnostic hypotheses and plan the right diagnostic path for the patient,
• Decide the treatment needed

The reference textbooks are those recommended for the Clinical Methods course and for Internal Medicine and for Surgery courses.

Training 3 includes:
• Three weeks of attendance in a medicine unit chosen by the student
• Three weeks of attendance in a surgery unit chosen by the student
• Two weeks of attendance in a clinical pathology unit chosen by the student
Training shifts are pre-agreed and organized in order to alternate weeks of training with weeks of lessons, avoiding any overlap between these two activities.
Attendance is mandatory and includes presence in the ward from Monday to Saturday for 8 hours a day. Upon arrival in the ward, each student will be assigned to a tutor identified by the Director of the ward. The tutor will follow the student during the entire period of attendance. The wards involved in this training are parts of hospitals of University of Insubria.

At the end of each training period, the student must provide the administrative office with the documents confirming ward attendance, signed by the tutor, the aims form, signed by the tutor and the ward director , and the form where the student has to report, anonymously, his opinion about the training.
