To provide students with written and oral communication skills in English – everyday English - B2 level of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

The thematic units generally include the following topics: interviews, things hard to believe, illnesses and injuries, feelings and opinions, describing people, clothes and fashion, telling stories, air travel, reading habits, weather, eco-guilt, risk takers and the survivors’ club.

Mode of Delivery
The student can prepare the grammatical part attending the language laboratory and doing personalized and targeted activities through the interactive multimedia software Tell Me More (English version) installed in the language lab (opening hours: Mon-Fri 9:00 to 17:00, Tue and Thu 17:00-21:30, Sat 9:00–12:30).
Students who will have used this teaching aid will get a bonus of 3 points.

Dr. Gabriella Franchi, responsible for the Language Lab, meets students in the lab on Monday and Friday from 9.00 to 17.00, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9.00 to 14.00.

There will be a 26-hour course about the main thematic topics to train students for both the written and oral exams

Written and oral test

The exam is both written and oral. To pass the exam students must obtain a score equal to 18/30 in all parts equivalent to level B2 of the Common European Framework.

The written test consists of two parts: students must do a test on grammatical structures and vocabulary (on PC) and must write a short composition – a letter, an e-mail or a report-(150 words).

The oral part for all the students will be focused both on the oral presentation of the topics in the textbook covered in class and on the oral presentation of ten articles about current affairs taken from quality British newspapers. (each article must be at least two pages long)
