The student must have familiarity with the principles of wave propagation in the material means and with the classical electromagnetism laws.

Understanding natural phenomena related to optics. Acquisition of geometrical optics and aberrations, light propagation in dielectric media, polarization, interference, diffraction, Fourier optics.

-Propagation of light (ch. 4)
-geometrical Optics (Chapter 5)
-the overlap of waves (Chapter 7)
-polarization (Chapter 8)

-Fraunhofer diffraction and Fresnel (ch. 10)
-Fourier Optics (ch. 11)
The chapters mentioned refer to the basic text adopted.
The teaching will be front type with the integration of laboratory demonstrations.

Evaluation of reports relating to laboratory experiments.
Final oral exam, with verification of the understanding of the phenomena observed in the laboratory, and the subjects studied on the textbook.
