Teaching objectives and expected learning outcomes:

Students are expected to master the basic techniques of linear algebra and multivariable calculus.

Course program:

Linear algebra: systems of linear equations, Gauss elimination, linear independence, vector spaces, linear applications among vector spaces, kernel and image. Matrices and transformations. Rank, determinant and their applications. Similarity and diagonalization. Orthogonal transformations. Multivariable calculus: partial derivatives, directional derivative. Gradient. Implicit function theorem. Differential and local linear applications. Integrals of multivariable functions. Ordinary differential equations.
