No specific prerequisite is required.
The course will introduce students to the automation in analytical chemistry and to process analytical chemistry. The course will be divided into two sequential modules, the first dedicated to the development and understanding of the methods of automation of chemical analysis, and the second addressed to chemical processes and methodologies of control and optimization.
Automation in analytical chemistry (24 hours)
• why automation in analytical chemistry : instrumental strategies
• methods for flow injection and segmented injection
• Robotics in analytical chemistry
Process analytical chemistry (32 hours)
• process analytical chemistry-examples of basic chemistry
• basic electronics
• physical and chemical sensors for the industrial process control (movement, temperature, pressure, electrochemical and spectrometric)
• introduction to industrial process control
The course will take place both from a theoretical point of view with lectures in the courtroom, and with examples drawn from experts in the field.

During the examination there shall be a continuous interchange between teacher and students, in order to have a continuous perception learning State, taking into account in particular that students must then apply the theoretical knowledge in the lab learned in the classroom. At the end of each module, the student will prepare and deliver a project on a topic related to the course.
The exam will be oral, and will consist in the presentation and discussion of practical project presented at the end of the course. At the end of the examination, the vote will be in thirtieths, and will consist in assessing the ability to respond correctly to the theoretical question, in the quality of the project and the ability to present the project and discuss the theoretical and practical aspects.
