Educational objectives: The teaching activity aims to provide the student with the notions about the pathologies most frequently encountered in a department of general surgery and orthopedics.
Expected learning outcomes: in particular, at the end of the course the student must be able to know and expose for each pathology treated notions regarding epidemiology, etiopathogenesis, the most common clinical presentations, possible evolutions and / or complications. In addition, the student will have to know the main instrumental examinations that can be used to set up a correct diagnostic process and hints about the therapeutic possibilities, with particular reference to the nurse management of the patient in the postoperative.

- Pathology of the esophagus: gastro-esophageal reflux disease and hiatal hernia, achalasia, esophageal diverticula, cancer of the esophagus.
- The stomach: peptic ulcer and stomach cancer.
- Pathology of the colorectal: diverticular disease, colon cancer, ostomy
- Breast pathology: benign and malignant tumors
- Pathology of the pancreas: acute and chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer.
- Thyroid: goiter, adenoma and malignant tumors
- Pathology of the liver and biliary tract: benign and malignant tumors of the liver, calculosis of the biliary tract and gallbladder, jaundice of surgical interest
- Acute appendicitis
- Abdominal wall: hernias and laparoceles
- the post-operative management of the patient, the patient pathway in a Day Service, the operative room
