Adequate knowledge of the notions of Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry and Immunology is recommended, prior taking this exam.

Final Examination: 

Verification of learning is carried out with an oral exam to verify the acquisition of the course contents.

In order to pass exam, the student must:

- know the etiological basis and pathogenetic mechanisms of human diseases and be able to analyse the main cellular and molecular aspects

- know the multicellular pathological processes, the tissue and systemic changes of the main human diseases

For each course topic, the following will contribute to the final mark:

- knowledge and understanding of the topic

- ability to critically discuss about a human disease

- competence and use of appropriate terminology

- ability to explore the topics independently

Each of the above mentioned criteria will contribute in an equal manner to the final mark: to pass the exam student must be able to discuss the pathologic process in terms of causes, effects, therapeutic approach and possible interaction between different pathologies developing at the same time.

Voto Finale

The course of Pathology and General Physiopathology aims to transmit to the students a deep knowledge about the aetiology of diseases in humans and the complexity of pathological phenomena. The course aims to acquire the basic notions and terminology of medical physiopathology.

At the end of the course the student will be able to illustrate and discuss, using the appropriate scientific language, the causes, the biological effects of the different pathogens and the available therapeutic approaches to fight such pathologies. During physiopathology lessons, the student will learn to discuss the mechanisms responsible of the diseases affecting specific organs and systems.

Course content will be covered in 48 hours of lectures. Due to COVID-19 pandemics lessons will be on-line (synchronous and asynchronous mode). Lectures will be supported by PowerPoint presentations and audio files.
