The student needs to have met the requirements as established by the Subjects Guide of the Course of Studies, and in particular he/she will need to have obtained ”pass” in the exam of Clinical Odontostomatology and Therapy1.

Final Examination: 

At the end of the course the student has to take a written exam. The candidate will be examined on the topics related to the syllabus of the integrated course. Not only will the candidate’s knowledge and learning ability be evaluated, but also his/her independence of judgement and communication skills will be assessed in regard to the fundamental principles of Clinical Odontostomatology.

Giudizio Finale

The aim of the course is to provide dental students with the necessary knowledge about how to collect a complete, updated and accurate medical history, to perform a patient’s objective examination, to prescribe and evaluate instrumental investigations in order to make a diagnosis and develop a treatment plan. At the end of the course the student will have acquired the skills essential to the odontostomatological management (medical and surgical) of both the healthy patient and the patient with systemic diseases.

2) To collect data and fill in medical records
3) Diagnostic process and development of a treatment plan:
- ideal treatment plan
- alternative treatment plan
- patient-tailored treatment plan
4) Dental management of the patient’s with systemic diseases:
- the cardiopathic patient;
- the diabetic patient;
- the patient with kidney disease;
- the patient with liver disorders;
- the allergic patient;
- the pregnant patient;
- the cancer patient
5) Medical therapy in odontostomatology:
- steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and nonsteroidal anti-inflmmatory drugs ;
- antibiotics, antifungal medications, antivirals;
- management of patients on anticoagulants and antiplatelet drugs;
- anaesthetic and sedative drugs

The slides used during the frontal lessons will be available to the students at the end of the course.

The course consists of standard frontal lessons for a total of 60 hours. The lectures are scheduled and their timetable can be consulted on the website of the Course of Studies. Slides are used by the teacher as a didattic support.
