Graduates are required to demonstrate work autonomy, which means that they must be able to produce and analyse texts for diverse communication means independently. Besides, they have to show they are responsible for the contents they create and analyse, which implies that they can evaluate from an ethical and social point of view how the various communicative systems work and which contents they produce. Such skills are developed through historical and theoretical teachings and are necessary pre-conditions for mature judgements on these issues. This maturity is assessed through specific tests.
Communication skills are evidently fundamental for graduates in Communication Science and Techniques. For the Master’s degree programme, in particular, graduates are required to write and create texts for diverse media and be able to manage the production of contents but also their destination depending on the means of communication at issues. Such skill is developed through laboratory activities and the study of philosophical, political-philosophical, historical, scientific and aesthetic languages also meant for practical applications. This skill is assessed through specific tests and evaluation of certain laboratory activities.
Since the communications sector is on the move continuously, it is fundamental that graduates are able to update their knowledge and judgemental capacities on the new and old media (with the latter ever changing and adapting to novel communication needs). The course aims to provide students with a solid knowledge of the structures and contents of existing communication means and media as well as with an understanding of their possible future developments. This is achieved by integrating courses that analyse the present situation within the communication sector with historical and theoretical disciplines that illustrate students the general framework in which the media developed diachronically and how their contents either changed or remained unvaried through the years. This allows students to acquire lifelong learning skills. All this is assessed via specific tests.
