Biography |
Dr. Boni was born in 1971
in Cremona, son of Palmiro and Mariarosa. In 1974, he moved to Paris
with his family for a period of 2 years.
Back in Italy he spent most of his childhood in Monza where he attended
primary school and high school.
In 1990 he moved to Pavia to attend Medical School where he received
his degree with a thesis on “Thoracoscopy: its present and future
applications ” and a final evaluation of 110/110 cum Laude
1997 He started his residency in Surgical Oncology, at the University
of Insubria. In 1998 and 1999 for a total period of over 2 years he
moved to Dundee, Scotland, in order to attend the Department of Surgery
of the University of Dundee under the supervision of Professor Sir
A. Cuschieri e Mr. SM Shimi. During these two years Dr. Boni was able
to run several experimental and clinical studies on different oesophageal
diseases and hepatic tumors. He has also been an active member of
Professor Cuschieri’s and Mr. Shimi’s surgical team.
In 2001, back in the Department of Surgical Sciences at the University of Insubria,
under the supervision of Professor Renzo Dionigi, he completed the
surgical training in Surgical oncology with the final score of 50/50
cum laude |

Research interests |
Dr. Boni is involved, as
primary as well as assistant, in several clinical research on surgical
techniques for liver resections and radioimmuno-guided node dissection
in breast cancer. New prognostic factor in colorectal cancer.
He has also performed experimental research on colo-rectal cancer,
liver regeneration and laparoscopic surgery. |

Teaching experience
and appointments |
Dr. Luigi Boni has been
appointed as a clinical lecturer in Surgery by the University of Insubria
in Varese, where he is currently giving lecturers to medical students,
nurses as well as physiotherapist.
He is an active member of several examination boards. |

Clinical interests |
Dr. Luigi Boni is an active
member of the surgical staff of the Department of Surgical Sciences of the University
of Insubria (Head professor Renzo Dionigi). He is mainly involved
in minimally invasive procedures as well as several elective and emergency
procedures. He has performed, to date, more than 200 surgical procedures
as first surgeon (half on moderate/major minimally invasive surgery)
and many more as assistant.
