Biography

Born in Viareggio (Lucca) in 1955, married, two sons .

Graduated from the Medical School of the University of Milan in 1980, final evaluation of 110/110 cum Laudae.

Graduate degrees in Surgery (1985) and in Microsurgery (1988) at the University of Milan.

Research interests

Clinical research on surgical techniques for liver resections and radioimmuno-guided node dissection in breast cancer. New prognostic factor in colorectal cancer. New techniques and technology in minimally invasive surgery.

Experimental researches on colo-rectal cancer, liver regeneration and laparoscopic surgery.

Clinical interests

Prof. Benevento is Head of the Department of Surgical Sciences at the University of Insubria at the Clinic of S.Maria di Castellanza- Varese. His clinical interests focus mainly major oncologic surgical procedure on esophagus, liver, pancreas and gut. He performed, to date, more than 2000 surgical procedure with special interest on minimally invasive surgery both with laparoscopic and thoracoscopic procedures.
