Gianfranco Badaracco is
Professor of Molecular Biology at the University of Insubria (Varese).
During his scientific career he studied the molecular mechanisms involved
in the DNA replication and molecular structure of the chromosome and
their functional implications.
In more detail:
1) purification and characterization of RNA and DNA polymerases from
Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Kluiveromyces lactis.
2) biochemical and functional studies of the terminal nucleotidil
transferase
3) purification and functional characterization of the eukaryotic
DNA topoisomerase
4) molecular mechanisms of the DNA replication focusing the attention
on the DNA primase-polymerase complex from S. cerevisiae
5) molecular structure and function of the heterochromatin ; structure
and function of the cromatin organized on methylated DNA; molecular
mechanisms of action of proteins (PML-RAR RxR) involved in the acute
promyelocytic laeukemia
6) molecular mechanisms involved in the Rett syndrome
