Research interests |
Research interests mainly
focus on problems of method and the Roman public law. He supports
an eclectic and interdisciplinary methodology, which considers all
the disciplines related to historical and legal research, above all
archaeology and epigraphy.
The object is the reconstruction of the public Roman structures and,
in particular, the constitutional legitimacy in the late republic,
determined by an exhaustive analysis of the ancient sources and compared
in the light of the dogmatics adopted by the contemporary constitutionalism.
The two-tiered perspective, that is both applicable to the ancient
times and to current historical times is shown in other studies, such
as the law of premium and the limits of the property studies.
Researches on citizenship and on the legal aspects of the Roman expansion
in Italy and in the Mediterranean area have been done and still they
are. The focus is on some institutions related to the Roman legal
experience: foedera, ius Latii, coloniae, municipia, pagi, castella
and so on.
The foundation of the hypotheses that he had done was verified on
some ethnic and geographical realities such as Spain, Brutium, the
Northern Italy and Como, whose history was reconstructed in an original
way, thanks to the jurist point of view. The aim is to go on with
such local controls in order to have the most complete picture of
the Romanization.
The attention about the archaeological sources has been firm, this
has sometimes allowed to succeed in new interpretations on founds
which were a much debated question, e.g. the amphitheatre and thermae
in Como and in Insubria region. |
