Biography |
D’Amico graduated
from the University of Milan with a thesis on “the civil doctrine
in Lombardy during the Restoration Era”. Afterwards she practiced
as a lawyer and in the meanwhile earned her Ph.D. in the History of
the Medieval and Modern Law at the University of Milan. She is now
dedicating herself only to the scientific research on the History
of the Medieval and Modern Law. She collaborates with the University
of Pavia (Law School) and the Catholic University of the Sacro Cuore
of Piacenza (Law School). |

Research interests |
Her studies focus on: the
legal Italian culture in the 19th and 20th centuries in different
aspects and fields. She concentrates in particular on the Law School
organization and teaching at the University of Pavia during the French
and the Austrian domination in the early 19th Century and after the
Italian Unit; on two teachers of the above-named Faculty: Agostino
Reale, civil law, and Ignazio Beretta, roman law; the figure and the
political works of the milanese lawyer Luigi Majno; the Pietro Ellero’s
civil fight against death penalty; the life of the judge Pietro Amato
Perretta in the difficult changing from the liberal to the fascist
regime. Currently she is concentrating on further studies on Luigi
Majno and on the minister Giuseppe Luosi’s works for the internal
organization of the Law School in the Universities of Pavia and Bologna
during the Reign of Italy. |

Teaching experience

She taught seminars and
courses at the University of Pavia, at the Catholic University of
Sacro Cuore of Piacenza and at the University of the Insubria. Currently,
she is researcher in history of the Medieval and Modern Law and professor
in charge of History of the Contemporary Law at the new school of
legal services for enterprise and public administration lawyers. |
