Within the general fields of research, special programs are developed, some of them qualifying for the general public interest and financed by the State, including: federal institutions, environmental and urban planning, public contracts, criminal justice administration, fundamental human rights, criminal law and procedure in the European integration process, commercial arbitration, tax and income law in international relations, protection of minorities in international law, private international law and international civil procedure.
The Department maintains good working cooperation with several similar institutions in foreign countries, notably in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Slovenia and Croatia and contributes to EC Tempus programs.
