Since 1992 INFN associate in several experiments

Qualifications and awards

1st classified for a fellowship in Nuclear and Subnuclear Physics (Consorzio per l'Area di Ricerca, Trieste); 5th classified for a PhD fellowship (Trieste); 5th classified for a INFN fellowship for 13 experimental physicists

Member of the ASI (Italian Space Agency) committee for the bid for the AGILE silicon detectors

Focal point of the AGILE silicon-tungsten tracker and responsible of all the satellite calibration facilities; AGILE local responsible for INFN in Trieste (2001-04) and in Milano (since 2005)

Topic Convener of the Astrophysics and Space Instrumentation Sessions at the 2004 IEEE NSS Conference (Rome)

Scientific responsible of the exhibition ''Physics around us: how 100 years of discoveries have changed our life'' (Como, 15/12/2005-15/01/2006)

Research interests

Gamma Astrophysics: design, assembly and test of the main part (the silicon-tungsten tracker) of a next generation gamma ray satellite (AGILE) which will be launched in 2006; design, assembly and test of photon tagged facilities both at the BeamTest Facililty at INFN Frascati and at the PS lines (East Hall, CERN). At the moment the offline analysis is being developed using the calibration data.

Medical Physics: design, assembly and test of next generation real time dosimeters (scintillator based) for scattered and primary radiation in radiotherapic accelerators; development of a neutron radiotherapic beam using hospital linear accelerators to treat special cancers (diffused like stomach or liver ones or in particular positions like brain ones) with BNCT (Boron Neutron Capture Therapy). The project, called PHONES, is a INFN/University collaboration (national responsible G. Giannini, Trieste).

Nuclear Physics: development of a scintillating fiber tracker with multianode photomultipliers for the measurement of antiproton cross-sections at CERN (ASACUSA experiment, national responsible E. Lodi Rizzini, Brescia)
