Founded in 1999, the Department of Medicine and Public Health includes nine professors and researchers of different scientific groups with mutual interests in teaching basic and applied research. The department emphasizes interdisciplinary by teaching in collaboration with other disciplines. In addition to the established areas of research, the Department offers a Masters program in Forensic Criminology and an international Masters Program in Human Sciences, in collaboratio n with qualified Italian and foreign universities.
Departmental Sections include: Forensic Medicine, Clinical Psychology, Bioethics, Microbiology, Criminology, Forensic Psychiatry, History of Medicine, Paleopathology and Hygiene.
Actual research lines: Pathogenesis of viral infections: viral tropism; establishment of persistent infection; cytopathic effects; modulation of cell biology pathways; Bioethics and Cinema, Communication and Counselling in Psychology, Psycho-oncology, Work Psychology, Palliative Care, Social Ethics-Economy, Deontology, Biography of Physicians, Archaeology and Paleopathology.
