Library System (SiBA)

The Library System (SiBA) is vital to supporting the University’s programs of study and research.
SiBA’s mission is to provide and promote access to information resources necessary for the achievement of the University's strategic objectives in teaching, learning, research, and community service.

Four subject libraries offer access to a remarkable range of both print and electronic materials:

• Library of Medicine and Science, Varese
• Library of Business and Economics, Varese
• Library of Science, Como
• Library of Law, Como

The collections, searchable by a public Web-based catalogue (opac.uninsubria.it/F/?CON_LNG=ENG), include:

• More than 81,570 volumes (often arranged in open shelves)
• 648 current journal subscriptions
• Maps
• Videotapes

Our collection of electronic resources is growing rapidly and now includes:

• 83 databases
• Over 13,000 electronic journal titles licensed (access)
• A growing collection of e-books (access)
• Citation linker (access)

Access to electronic resources (e-journals and scientific databases) are mainly based on IP authorization.

In addition to reference and local lending services, the library system provides access to materials not available on campus from an international interlibrary lending network (Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery).
