The 8th International Symposium on Generalized Convexity and Monotonicity was held in Varese, on July 4-8, 2005 with over one hundred participants from various countries in attendance. The Symposium was organized by universities of Northwestern Italy and hosted by the Department of Economics.
The Organizing Committee was chaired by Angelo Guerraggio of the University of Insubria.

The Symposium was held under the auspices of the International Working Group on Generalized Convexity (www.genconv.org/), a growing affiliation of applied mathematicians and other interdisciplinary researchers, which recently celebrated its 10th anniversary. The Symposium provided a forum to review the latest developments in the field.
