Biography |
Marina Protasoni was born
on April 8, 1973 in Tradate (VA), Italy.
She attended the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Insubria
from October 1993 to June 2000, where she was the student delegate
to the medical Faculty council (1994-1998) and to University of Insubria
Executive board (1998-2000). During these years she was a boarder
at the Human Anatomy Laboratory “L. Cattaneo” of the University of Insubria taking active part in the research activities.
In June
2000 she graduated (110/110) in Medicine at the University of Insubria
with an experimental thesis on the molecules of the extracellular
matrix and in 2001 she passed the qualification exam for the medical
profession. In 2003 she was appointed connoisseur of Human Anatomy
and she took part in the teaching activities in the Department of
Morphology.
In January 2004 she obtained a PhD in “Congenital and Acquired
Degenerative Diseases” presenting a thesis entitled “Rebuilding
the human cartilage”.
From March 2005 she is a Research Fellow in Anatomy at the Faculty
of Medicine of the University of Insubria and has joined the Human Morphology
Department. |
| |
Qualifications and awards |
- Full degree in Medicine
and Surgery.
- PhD in Congenital and Acquired Degenerative Diseases |

Research interests |
The scientific activity
focuses on the ultrastructure of extracellular matrix of connective
tissues, on the use of biomaterials in humans for orthopaedic and
dental practice and on study of the microcirculation of different
districts.
Recently, she is interested in the peripheral nervous system and on
its own capability of self-repair after injury.
All these research fields were carried on using light microscopy,
transmission- and scanning- electron microscopy, X-ray analysis and
corrosion-casting techniques. |
| |
Teaching experience
and appointments |
She teaches human Anatomy
in the Medical under-graduate courses (Nursing, Obstetrics, Physiotherapists,
Dental Hygienists, Radiological and Laboratory Technicians) of the
University of Insubria. |
