Biography |
Carlo Dell’Orbo was
born on August 23, 1949 in Vigevano (PV), Italy 1974 degree in Medicine, University of Pavia 1977 specialization in Haematology, University of Pavia 1980 specialization in Clinical Analysis; University of Pavia 1984 specialization in General Pathology, University of Pavia 1989 specialization in Gastroenterology, University of Pavia 1974 - 1977 worked at the Human Anatomy Institute of the University of Pavia with a national post-graduate research grant. 1977-1982 Assistant Professor of Human Anatomy, University of Pavia. 1982-1986 Associate Professor of Human Anatomy, School of Science, University of Pavia. 1986-1992 Full Professor of human Anatomy, School of Medicine, University of Cagliari 1992-1998 Full Professor of Human Anatomy, School of Medicine, University of Pavia in Varese 1998: Full Professor of Human Anatomy at the University of Insubria in Varese since its institution on July 14, 1998. |

Doctor of Medicine Affiliations to the Italian Anatomical Society, and the Italian Society for the study of the Connective Tissue since their institution. Coordinator of CNR group of “Calcified Tissues”. 1998-2000 Director of Post-graduate Medical School of Neurology. 2001 -2004 Director of Post-graduate Medical School of Neurology of Urology. Since 2000, he has managed the Scientific Committee of the Medical Library at the University of Insubria. Member of the Scientific Committee of the Library System of the University of Insubria since their institution. 1999-2002 Member, and 2002-2005 Coordinator, of the internal Evaluation Committee at the University of Insubria. |

Research interests |
His scientific activity is mostly oriented towards the microscopical and submicroscopical anatomy of the extracellular matrix of connective tissues, in particular cartilage and bone. It was carried out since 1972 in the anatomical laboratories of Pavia, Cagliari and Varese. | |
| Teaching experience and appointments |
He teaches Human Anatomy
for MD students and undergraduate medical school of Nursing, Obstetrics,
Physiotherapists, Oral Hygiene, Radiological and Laboratory technicians,
at the University of Insubria. He teaches Human Anatomy also in the Post-graduate Medical Schools of Anaesthesia; Cardiology; Cardiac surgery; Plastic and reconstructive surgery; Thoracic surgery; Vascular surgery; Gastroenterology; Gynaecology and Obstetrics; Respiratory diseases; Sport medicine; Physiotherapy; Neurology; Neurosurgery; Ophthalmology; Dentistry; Orthopaedics and Traumatology; Otolaryngology; Paediatrics; Radiology, and Urology. Since its founding, he was a member of the college of teachers of the PhD in “Morphological Sciences” at the University of Cagliari and of the PhDs in “Acquired and congenital degenerative diseases”, in “Degenerative pathology and immunopathology” and “Experimental Medicine and Oncology” of University of Insubria. |
