Biography

In 1986 I obtained a secondary school degree (chemical technician) at the Technical Institute “S. Cannizzaro”, Rho (Milan), Italy. From 1987 to 1992 I was at the State University of Milan taking courses at the graduate school of Biology. I received a Bachelor’s degree in Biology in 1992, with a thesis entitled “Food choice of stonemarten, wolf and fox in the Alta Val d’Aveto (Appennines, North-Italy)”. From 1992 to 1995 I worked as a Ph.D. fellow at the Department of Biology, State University of Milan. I carried out research on the etho-ecology of solitary wasps (Hymenoptera). I received my Ph.D. in Natural and Environmental Sciences in November 1996 defending a Ph.D. thesis with the title “Eco-ethology of four species of Hymenoptera: Ammophila sabulosa and Oxybelus argentatus (Hymenoptera: Sphecidae), Anoplius infuscatus and Episyron albonotatus (Hymenoptera: Pompilidae) in the Upper-Valtellina (Sondrio, Italy)”. In 1996-1997 I was a Post-Doctoral fellow at the faculty of Mathematical, Physical and natural Sciences of the University of Milan, Varese College. During this period I was the responsible scientist of the Biology station “Domenico Morino” at Castelletto Ticino. In 1998 I obtained my current position of Assistant Professor at the University of Insubria, Varese, Italy. From 1998 to June 2004 at the Department of Structural and Functional Biology, and from June 2004 onwards at the Department of Environment, Health and Safety.
