Born in Venice (August 16, 1949).
Education: Liceo Classico Padri Cavanis, Venice; Medical Licensure (1973), Board of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (1976) and Board of Medical Toxicology (1980) at the University of Padua.
Military service as Italian Engineer Corps Lieutenant MC (1975/76).
Clinical Assistant of Anesthesia and Intensive Care at the Institute of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care, University Hospital of Padua (1976/1986).
Professor of General and Dental Anesthesia at University of Ferrara (1986/1989).
Professor of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care at the University of Pavia-Varese (1989/1998).
