Biography

Born in 1955. Graduate at the University of Pavia in 1979. Studying stages in Strasbourg (F) and Cambridge (UK). Scholarship in 1981-83 in Geneva (CH): researches on literary culture in France, Switzerland and Italy in XVIII century. From 1983 to 1985, “maître-assistant” at Lausanne University (CH): courses of History of Italian Language and Italian Literature. From 1996 to 1991, researches at the Accademia della Crusca in Florence. Since 1996, Director of Centro Nazionale Studi Manzoniani, Milano; since 2001, Associate Professor of Italian Literature at the University of Insubria, Varese
 

Qualifications and awards

International Award “Nuova Antologia” for philology researches, 1996. Member of scientific committees of many Art and Literature expositions. Member of the International Society of Eighteenth Century Studies. Director of the scientific periodical “Annali manzoniani”.
 

Research interests

Italian Literature of XVI cent. (Ariosto) and between XVIII and XX cent.: Beccaria, Verri, Manzoni, Gadda. Literature tradition and rhetoric. History of Italian language from XVIII to XX century.
