Research interests

Research activity is focused on acute coronary syndromes and arrhythmias. Professor Salerno-Uriarte's main studies are performed in the Coronary Care Unit and at different Electrophysiology Laboratories both the University of Pavia and at the University of Insubria. His contributions to Cardiac Electrophysiology and Electrostimulation – an important asset of modern Cardiology – had relevant clinical impact in European cardiology.

Teaching experience and appointments

His mission is focused on extending the benefits of modern cardiology to all population levels. The National Research Council and the Italian Society of Cardiology gave Prof. Salerno-Uriarte the opportunity to contribute to the development of the healthcare system in several different cardiological areas.

He has been: Member of the Board of the MADIT (Multicenter Automatic Defibrillator Trial) at the University of Rochester, 1990-1996; Member of the Board of the MADIT (Multicenter Automatic Defibrillator Trial) at the University of Rochester, 1990-1996; Responsible for Italian Projects on the Arrhythmias’ Ablation, 1990-2000; Member of the Scientific Board of the GISSI Group (Trombolysis in Acute Myocardial Infarction), 1994-1995; Coordinator of the Italian Working Group of Arrhythmias (GIA), 1996-1998; Steering Committees and Task Forces of the European Society of Cardiology and the Heart Rhythm Society, 2000-2001; Chairman of the “Società Medico Chirurgica” of the Provincia di Varese, 2004-2006; Member of the Board of the Italian Society of Cardiology, 2005-2006; Chairman of the Committee of “Regione Lombardia” of the Italian Society of Cardiology, 2005-2006; Chairman of Teaching and Training Committee of the Italian Society of Cardiology, 2005-2006.
