Biography

Born in Milan on August 1, 1966. He completed his school education in Bergamo and then moved to Milan where he enrolled in the Modern Literature program at the University of Milan.

After two years he began his studies in Geology at the University of Bologna, where he graduated in 1993 with a thesis project carried out at the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory, Hawaii, USA.
After completing a one-year Civil Service in at the Natural History Museum of Chiavenna (SO), he started working in a Multinational Oil Company based in Milan.

From 1999 to 2004 he worked at APAT (Italian Agency for Environment Protection). The five-year period was subdivided into three years in the Environmental Communication Division and two years in the Soil Defense Department. In November 2003 he was appointed Researcher at University of Insubria, where he started working at the end on 2004

 

Qualifications and awards

He holds an MSC in Geology from the University of Bologna.

He received a Columbia University Fellowship in Marine Geology in 1995-1996.

He holds a Certificate in Journalism from New York University (earned in 1996).

Since March 2003 he has been a member of the Italian Order of Journalists. 
 

Research interests

Study of the relationship between Tectonics and Volcanism in Holocene and Quaternary areas of the Philippines, Hawaii, Iceland, Mexico.

Geological mapping of Mesozoic substrate succession in the Southern Alps (Val Camonica, Val Trompia).

Scientific Divulgation, Natural Hazard Communication, Analysis of the relationships between the Media and Natural Hazards.
 

Teaching experience and appointments

Contract Professor of Environmental Communication at the University of Insubria from 2001 to 2005.

Currently teaches Geography and Cartography in the Environmental Sciences degree.
