Biography

1995-1998: Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of Milan. Thesis title:“The role of Pyrazolate Ligand in Building Polynuclear Transition Metal Systems”.

1998-1999: Post-doc position at the Texas A&M University (College Station TX, USA), under the supervision of Professor John P. Fackler, Jr.

November 1999: Permanent Position (Researcher) in theSchool of Sciences in Como at the University of Insubria (Italy).

Research interests

The research activity mainly focused on the following four points:

1. Investigation of the steric and electronic effects of the different ligands and of their influence on the reaction selectivity.

2. Syntheses of enantiomerically pure chiral derivatives of pyrazole and pyrimidin-2-ol. Syntheses of atropoisomeric iminicspecies.

3. Usage of the abovementioned molecules as ligands (for pyrazoles and pyrimidin-2-ols, in their deprotonated form) in the synthesis of coordination complexes.

4. Evaluation of the catalytic activity of the prepared complexes and of the diastereo- or enantio-selectivity induced therefrom.
