Research interests

Alpine geology
Dynamic evolution of the mountains, tectono-metamorphic evolution of the Variscan basement, granulites, relations between mountain uplift, erosion and for-deepe basins, geodynamics of subduction zones, faulting, study of metamorphic and magmatic basement, exhumation processes, mapping geological bodies and field work, rheology of the Alps and and fore-deep basins.

Analysis of the field data to prevent environmental damages
Surface and deep crust analysis for geological hazards evaluation and monitoring, rock landslides and debris flow study and control.

Archeometry
Archeometric research within and around old Cu, Fe and Mn mining areas of the Alps.

Recent Research at the University of Insubria

Lake Como: "Structural and morphobathimetric research
of Lake Como" financed by the National Institute of the Mountain Research. Project of the Environmental Group of Insubria (chemists, biologists and geologists).

Orogenic molasse: "Evaluation of the deformation and exhumation deposits of the Gonfolite Lombarda by applying apatite fission tracks". Geological part in the Leading Project of the University of Insubria, regarding radioactivity. This involves physicists, chemists and geologists.

Mining research: "Geological /environmental study of the Cu-Fe ore deposits and related hydrogeological problems in the Alps. Some arguments are parts of the INTEREG IIIA Project promoted by the Val d' Aosta Region and by INTEREG IIIB project ("The metal path ways in the Alps") encouraged by Lombardy, Slovenia, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Valle d’Aosta regions.
