Objectives

• The promotion and development of research in Medical Informatics, Image Analysis, Graphics and Computer Vision applied to Biomedical Sciences, Health and Health Care.
• The advancement and facilitation of national and international cooperation.
• The dissemination and exchange of  results for education and training purposes.

Research Activity

C.R.A.I.I.M. performs basic and applied research dealing with the storage, retrieval, sharing, and optimal use of biomedical information.

Main research topics include:

• Decision Support Systems for Diagnosis and Therapy
• 2D and 3D Image Analysis
• Web Applications

The scientific community pursues a wide range of projects within these areas. Some of the major projects currently underway are listed below:

• 3D Surface Reconstruction from SEM images with applications in the fields of Human Morphology, Orthopedy, Physiatry
• Fuzzy decision support system for the diagnosis of temporomandibular disorder
• Automated Support for the Diagnosis of Periodontal disease
• Analysis of virus induced cytopathic effects using time-lapse microscopy
• Applications in Legal Medicine
