Founded in 2002, the Research Center for European Criminal Law (Centro Studi di Diritto Penale Europeo) was jointly established by the School of Law at the University of Insubria, the “Camera Penale of Como and Lecco” and the Union of European Lawyers (UAE). This Center is the first institution in Northern Italy specifically devoted to the study of European Criminal Law.
The Center aims to facilitate the study and research of criminal law and criminal procedures within the framework of European Union. This objective is carried out by gathering and cataloguing legal materials, organizing seminars and international symposiums and inviting experts from all over the world to discuss current controversial topics. The Center also oversees the publication of editions of a special European Judicial Science Series and the answers to “Green Books” about European Criminal Law.
The Center also operates a website: www.dirittopenaleeuropeo.it. The website is the source of constantly updated information regarding the evolution of the process of European integration. National legal experts and legislators rely on the website to assist and improve upon developments in European Criminal Law. You can subscribe to receive a monthly newsletter.
