The Research Center for Comparative Law was founded in 2003 at the University of Insubria, together with the University of Milan and the University of Bologna, with the aim of promoting knowledge and research in the various fields of prominent interest to comparative law.
Every year the Center organizes a summer school in Comparative Law in coordination with American law professors to provide incentives for a better understanding of the legal vocabulary employed by common lawyers. The Center also hosts a variety of events in the field of multilingualism and multiculturalism, including:
in April 2005, the Center organized an International Conference on "The Language Policies of the European Institutions after the Enlargement: Drafting, Translation and Interpretation of EU legal acts and their impact on the Harmonisation of European Law", where EU Institution representatives presented their strategies to work with 20 official languages after the enlargement;
in May 2005, scholars from Israel , United States and Europe gathered in Como to discuss on "Multiculturalism: Different Perspectives".
(The proceedings of the conferences will be published in both Italian and English)
