Born: Tirana (Al), 01.02.1966
Nationality: Italian
Present position: "Assistant Professor" at the University of Insubria, Department of Biotechnology and Molecular Sciences. Varese.
Education:
Degree in Biology from University of Tirana, obtained in 1989, than equivalent level degree in Biological Sciences obtained in 1994 from University of Bari.
PhD degree in Zootechnical Sciences from University of Basilicata, Potenza, Italy, obtained in 1998.
Scientific and Academic career:
From 1990 to 1993, research associate on “Physiology of Domestic Animals“ at the University of Agriculture of Tirana, Faculty of Veterinary Faculty, Department of Physiology and Biochemistry.
1993 stage at the University of Basilicata, Potenza, Italy
1995-1998 PhD in Zootecnical Sciences at the University of Basilicata, Faculty of Agriculture, Potenza, Italy
1998- stage at the Ohio State University, School of Natural Resources, Columbus, U.S.A
2001- stage at the University of Sheffield, U.K
Fields of Research:
Functional genomics applications on fish welfare, nutrition and physiological adaptation to the intensive farming environment.
Dynamics of collagen indicating aminoacids, in embryos and larvae of sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) and gilthead sea bream (Sparus aurata) originating from broodstocks fed with different vitamin C content in the diet.
Euryhaline fish adaptation mechanisms to water hyperoxia.
Other experiences:
Active participations in international networks such as AQUA-TT; organization of international courses in Aquaculture. Active participation and organization of congresses for the European Aquaculture Society and for the World Aquaculture Society. |
