Microsoft Teams is a communication and collaboration platform that allows you to share, save and edit documents as a team. It supports Android and iOS systems on smartphones and tablets, and offers the ability to synchronise content across different devices. It also allows you to chat, make audio/video calls and share your screen, which can be scheduled in the calendar, and facilitates teamwork between students, lecturers and university staff. Teams also integrates with other Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Planner.
The Teams feature in Microsoft Teams allows you to create dedicated areas for chatting and sharing files and apps with selected groups both inside and outside the University, by invitation. You can manage file storage yourself and synchronise files with One Drive, as well as chat with audio and video calls within the group. Teams is often used for seminars and conferences, thanks to its ability to connect students and teachers remotely. It is also used to connect classrooms between Varese and Como, especially through Surface Hub 2S devices, which, with their 50-inch screens, facilitate video conferencing via Teams. Following the guidelines agreed with the Teaching Delegate and the DPO, Teams also allows the recording of lectures and academic events for later use. This option is normally only available to teachers.
