Opening of the Insubria Concert Season 2009-2010
Joaquín Palomares and Corrado Greco will open the IX Insubria Concert Season, playing music by J. Turina, G. Cassadó, E. Toldrà and J. Rodrigo.
The concert will be held in Varese, University Great Hall, via Ravasi 2 and begin at 18.00.

Third edition of IISS to be held in September
The Insubria International Summer School (IISS), as a joint venture between the University of the Insubria and members of the Faculty of Harvard Medical School, organizes continuing medical education courses for Specialists in the field of cancer.
Its third edition, to be held in Varese from September 21st to 23rd, 2009, focuses on recent advances in the diagnosis and treatment of leukemias/lymphomas.

Ex Libris competition – Exhibition at Sala Veratti
On Friday, February 13, at 5 p.m, the ex libris "De Libera Universitate – University and Freedom" award ceremony will take place at Sala Veratti, via Veratti 20, in Varese (Italy).
The competition was advertised by the University of Insubria, in collaboration with A.I.E (Ex Libris Italian Association), in order to celebrate the decennial of the University foundation.
The inauguration of the exhibition, hosting 249 works taking part in the competition, will take place in this special circumstance. Moreover, the exhibition catalogue, edited by Insubria University Press, will be presented.
The exhibition opening is from Tuesday to Sunday from 10.30 am to 12.30 am and from 2.30 pm to 6.30 pm, until March 1st.

International course on endocrine surgery: "Thyroid surgery – the recurrent laryngeal nerve"
On Friday, 26 June 2009, an international endocrine surgery course titled "Thyroid surgery – the recurrent laryngeal nerve" will take place at the Grand Hotel Palace in Varese. The Course is offered by the Department of Surgical Sciences of the University of Insubria. The course director is Gianlorenzo Dionigi.
For the first time in Italy, a congress is completely focused on the recurrent laryngeal nerve. Surgical techniques will be presented, including recurrent laryngeal nerve identification, preservation, neuromonitoring and eventual nerve reconstruction.
The most important international experts in Thyroid surgery will take part at the congress as speakers and moderators. They will come from Japan, Taiwan, Usa, Germany, Bruxelles, France and Italy, specifically from the Universities of Padova, Parma, Catania, Pisa, Roma.
The congress is addressed to general and specialist surgeons, endocrinology surgeons, ear, nose and throat specialists and general medicine doctors.
