The University of Insubria English Website
The University of Insubria website receives hits from all over the world.

The building block themed images throughout the site represent the very foundation that allows for learning growth and prosperity, all integral for the University, its faculty and students. Additionally the consistency of green throughout, and so prominent in the University of Insubria logo, is reminiscent of Insubria’s rich vegetation.

This site was developed and created in tandem with the University by Brädam Creative, an international marketing, advertising, design and public relations agency headquartered in the United States.

Web Standards
This site attempts to adhere to current web standards in order to increase accessibility, download speed, and efficiency of maintenance. If you're using an older browser with partial or non-existent support for web standards, you will still be able to use this site; it will be aesthetically more attractive and more functional however, with a modern browser.

This is an XHTML 1.0 Transitional site.

Cookies
The site may request a "cookie." A cookie is a piece of information stored on your hard drive that allows the site to "remember" certain preferences, such as whether you prefer standard or large type size. No personal information is transmitted when you "accept cookies." If you choose not to accept cookies, some minor aspects of the site may not work as expected.

Passwords
You may encounter some sections that require a username and password to access certain information. If so and you have forgotten your password, please contact the University’s webmaster.

Your use of this site indicates your agreement with the Terms of Use and may also be governed by specific University policies.

Browser Compatability
The University of Insubria website was designed using W3C standard XHTML and CSS (cascading style sheet) layout. The following browsers were set as benchmarks.
Browsers that SHOULD get the CSS:

• Internet Explorer on the PC  (version 5.5 and higher)

• Mozilla (all versions)
  
• Netscape (version 7.1 and higher)

• Safari (all versions)

All other browsers should NOT get the style sheet. We estimate 1.3% of our viewers will not see the page with the CSS. The CSS used complies with W3C standards.

Why did we make this decision?
Browsers NOT in this list might not handle our CSS correctly. We decided to provide all content without styling to these browsers rather than a non-functioning page.

How can I update my browser? A list of recommended browsers with downloads is available above.

Microsoft Internet Explorer for Macintosh is no longer supported by Microsoft, and it is no longer listed as a recommended browser for The University of Insubria website. We recommend either Safari or Firefox for Macintosh users.

In addition, Netscape is no longer listed as one of the preferred browsers. Use of Netscape has decreased and the commitment to continued maintenance of the Netscape browser is uncertain. Given this, and the fact that there are viable alternatives, we recommend using one of the preferred browsers above instead of Netscape.
