This degree program educates students to become professionals and experts in all the fields related with Tourism. For instance, we form hotel managers, experts in hospitality, tourism promoters and experts in tourism books publishing. Interdisciplinary studies, studying abroad experiences and apprenticeships represent the three key aspects of this program.
The course program is composed of a compulsory two-year exams block, including Principles of Economics, Principles of Business, Private Law, Constitutional Law, Statistics, Computer Science, English, German, Sociology, History, Industrial Economics, Tourism Law, and European Union Law.
In the third-year, students can choose between two different professional profiles:
tourism management;
art, history and cultural goods.
Second-year students are offered a study abroad program at Niagara University, USA, for a four-month on-campus experience (10 scholarships are available, sponsored by the University of Insubria and by the Local Association UniverComo). The study abroad program is also available at several European Universities through Erasmus sponsored by the EU.
Third-year students are offered a large variety of short working experiences in hotels, particularly in the Lake of Como area, with tour operators, travel agencies and also in public institutions active in tourism.
Several conferences are organized each year to include meetings and workshops with corporate executives and external experts in tourism. Among others, invited guests have included: the Como Chamber of Commerce President De Santis, the chief executive of Villa d’Este Droulers, the chief executive of Frigerio Network Gentile, a famous travel agent Adriano Biella, and the Dean of the College for Hospitality and Tourism Studies of Niagara University Praetzel.
