The Biology degree course is a three-year program requiring 180 ECTS.
During the first year students cover foundation sciences in mathematics, physics, chemistry and elementary biology. The curriculum then expands to include different aspects of biological phenomena and processes. Topic areas span a number of different specializations including basic mechanisms underlying developmental processes in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, genetic and molecular aspects of physiological and pathological phenotypes as well as the assessment of pollutants risks in relevant biological populations.
Complementing theoretical knowledge, students also receive hands on training with different industry tools, develop research skills, and participate in teaching activities. In addition to coursework, degree candidates are required to complete a three-month practicum at University laboratories or in public or private sector companies.
