School of Sciences in Como

The School of Sciences in Como offers a strong core of teaching and research in the Basic Sciences such as Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. Broadening the scope of the department, it also offers programs of study in Environmental Sciences, Computer Studies and Cultural Heritage.

Masters and Research Doctoral candidates are offered the opportunity of gaining “hands on” experience in the different disciplines through professional work experience with companies and public institutions while completing the range of courses offered by the School. Restricted class sizes, a multi-cultural dimension, attention to teaching, experimental and theoretical research, student involvement, straightforward relationships with tutors, the free interaction between the different areas of study, and the international opportunities, are all facilitated by the location in a border area, and are all tangible advantages offered by the School of Sciences in Como and the University of Insubria.

In this environment students can define their own specialized profile in conjunction with colleagues and tutors. Students are given the opportunity to pursue professional careers in primary industries, the public sector and academic and research institutions.
