This course offers a three-year program to four participants per year. The aim of the program is to offer access to surgical research, basic and applied to the field of biotechnologies, oncology, immunology and infections.
The program is guided by a faculty of 13 professors and research fellows of the University and the Committee of the Program.
Doctorate students have a Tutor chosen within or by Committee. They have access to the laboratory of the Department of Surgical Sciences and to the clinical wards and institutes of the Departments of Surgical Sciences, at the Ospedale di Circolo in Varese, Italy. They also have the opportunity to spend a 1-year period abroad, to complete their training and their research program.
Every 3 months students are required to report to the Tutor on their research activity. At the end of each academic year they write a full report on the results of their research. This is to be discussed and approved by the Council, to provide admission to the following year program.
At the end of the 3-year course Doctorate students prepare a dissertation on an original research project carried out by the student. After discussion and approval of the thesis they qualify as Doctor in research.
