Established in 1994, The Residency Program in Physical and Rehabilitative Medicine in at the University of Insubria is a four year program designed to prepare each resident for a future as a private practitioner or a hospital-based physiatrist. Residents learn to manage rehabilitation in a wide range of pathologies and are also trained in electrodiagnosis, biomechanics, prosthetic and orthotic prescriptions and occupational therapy.
Residents spend some rotations in specialized Rehabilitation Centers where they have the opportunity to work side by side with professional physiatrists, taking care of individuals with complex orthopaedic trauma, joint replacements, traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries, stroke and other neurological disorders and cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases.
