Electrophysiology and Cardiac Electrostimulation play a very important role in the management of cardiovascular diseases. The School of Cardiology supplies an adequate preparation in its field. However, for highly specialized areas like Electrophysiology and Cardiac Electrostimulation, it is absolutely necessary to provide an ad hoc post-specialist preparation, as already occurs regularly in the United States of America as part of the H.R.S. (Hearth Rhythm Society) ex. N.A.S.P.E. (North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology).
The second level Program offered by the University of Insubria, in collaboration with University of Brescia, offers a high quality response to this widely spread educational requirement.
The subjects of Electrophysiology and Cardiac Electrostimulation will be covered each moment within an integrated vision of Cardiology. The developments of these fields also inevitably relate to other sectors such as: Emodinamics; Diagnostic and Interventistic; Bioimaging in general and Echocardiography in particular; Pediatric Cardiology; Cardiac Emergency – Urgency; Telediagnosys and Teleconsulting.
The Program provides development in all the clinical aspects of arrhythmia management and outlines the mechanisms of these diseases. Significant data will be supplied which will allow participants to approach the topics of study in the most effective way.
The following arguments in particular will be covered:
Electrophysiological mechanisms and genetic aspects of arrhythmia;
Diagnosis of arrhythmia: beginning with surface ECG and moving to other non-invasive methodologies, including non-invasive electrophysiological evaluation and the aspects of laboratory security;
Pharmacological treatment of arrhythmia;
Non- pharmacological treatment of supraventricular arrhythmia (nodal tachycardia, atrioventricular, ectopic atrial tachycardia, atrial flutter and atrial fibrillation);
Non-pharmacological treatment of ventricular tachycardia;
Electrical treatment of arrhythmia with the use of pacemakers and implantable automatic defibrillators;
Syncope and sudden cardiac death;
Historical, economical, political and legal aspects of Electrophysiology and Cardiac Electrostimulation.
TARGET AUDIENCE: A specialized degree in Medicine and Surgery and a specialized degree in Cardiology or equivalent academic qualifications obtained abroad are required.
