The Ph.D. Program in Cell and Molecular Biology aims to form a class of young scientists capable to approach the study of the cellular and molecular mechanisms that underlie the functioning of the cells with inquisitive and open minds.
The program is organized in a three year cycle of courses. Students are admitted in groups of four for each cycle and a grant is available for two of the four positions. Admitted students must submit a research project in one of the offered curricula, i.e., Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Physiology, Genetics and Cell Biology, Plant Biology, and Animal Biology.
The research projects are developed as a general rule in the laboratories of the Department of Structural and Functional Biology and Department of Biotechnology and Molecular Sciences under the supervision of one of the members of the faculty (i.e., Francesco Acquati, Gianfranco Badaracco, Giovanni Bernardini, Maurizio Brivio, Magda deEguileor, Paolo Gerola, Stefano Giovannardi, Nicoletta Landsberger, Antonio Peres, Loredano Pollegioni and Alberto Vianelli).
In addition to the research activities, students are expected follow a program of lectures and seminars. Students are also expected to work for a short period of time in other laboratories in Italy and abroad.
